The Mission of the Woolly Ones 4-H Sheep Club is to support the 4-H Youth Development Program of Somerset County. The club participates in an annual educational Fair to showcase work its members have completed over the past year, in learning about raising and caring for sheep. Youth members actively engage with local sheep farms to understand breeding, ovine health concerns and treatments, nutrition, muscle development, breed characteristics and appropriate fitting techniques, as well as lamb preparation for sale at market auctions.
In addition to focusing on sheep, club members are encouraged to participate in 4-H program activities such as community service events, Ag-Venture Day and Science-Sational Day, the annual Spring Carnival, Winter Camp, TOPS Camp, Public Speaking Presentations, and many other opportunities to grow and thrive.
